Educational innovations with ICT

Real acceleration does not take place in the zone, but rather within higher education institutions themselves. It is for this reasons that the Facilitating Professional Development for Lecturers zone is designing a professional development offering centred around specific innovations. The field labs are designed around four themes: peer feedback, online didactics, learning analytics and formative testing. This offering is then tested within the participants’ own institutions. These “Field Labs for Professional Development” encompass experimental professional development activities where teachers and support staff develop and work on specific educational innovations with IT.

Integrating the process of formative assessment

The Facilitating professional development for lecturers zone has developed the Formative Assessment field lab in collaboration with the University of Twente. This field lab is designed for lecturers in higher education who want to integrate the process of formative evaluation into their education. Watch the video and learn more about the field lab.

The application of peer feedback

In the field lab Digital Peer Feedback the application of (digital) peer feedback by lecturers in higher education is crucial. In a series of four meetings, lecturers learn how to use peer feedback in their own teaching in a thoughtful manner and how they can guide this process for their students. The animation shows you a good practice of peer feedback (English subtitles available, see settings).

The use of learning analytics

Do you want to use learning analytics in higher education? The Facilitating professional development for lecturers zone of the Acceleration Plan has developed a field lab around this subject. In a series of six meetings, lecturers are gradually introduced to the use of study data within their own teaching. Watch the animation for more information.

Achieving a mix of online and on-site activities

Blended (or hybrid) education is now commonplace in higher education. Therefore, the Facilitating professional development for lecturers zone developed the field lab Blended Education. What does such a combination actually look like? And how do you achieve a mix within your own education that is effective, efficient and attractive for both student and teacher? Both questions and corresponding answers are central to this field lab.
