Privacy statement Acceleration plan

The Acceleration Plan attaches importance to the privacy of participating institutions and visitors to the website. If we ask for your personal data, we will handle it with care. We adhere to the General Data Protection Regulation. You can read all about this in this privacy statement.

How do we handle your data?

If the Acceleration Plan requests and processes personal data from you, your privacy comes first. This means, among other things, that:

Why do we ask for this information?

The processing of this data is necessary for answering and handling your question (legal basis for processing: consent). By emailing us, you give permission to process your data.

How long do we keep this data?

When you contact us by e-mail, we will keep your data for as long as is necessary on the basis of the content of the e-mail for the complete answering and handling thereof and for any follow-up questions.

Register events

If you register for an event via our website, we ask for the following personal data:

  • first and last name (mandatory field)
  • e-mail address (mandatory field)
  • organization where you work (mandatory field)
  • organizational sector in which you work
  • function
  • payment details
  • dietary preferences
  • any other information that you voluntarily enter

Why do we ask for this information?

We need your data to process your registration (legal basis for processing: execution of the agreement). In addition, we can conduct (statistical) research on the basis of this data in order to improve our services (legal basis for processing: SURF’s legitimate interest).

How long do we keep this data?

SURF can use your data for research up to 18 months after the event. This research is aimed at improving the events we offer to the target group. For this research, SURF pseudonymizes the data, so that they can no longer be directly traced back to individuals. SURF will remove your name and e-mail address for this purpose. After 18 months, your data will be completely anonymised, so that they can no longer be traced, both directly and indirectly. SURF can then only use the anonymized data for statistical research.

Newsletter subscription

If you sign up for our online newsletter, we ask for the following personal data:

  • First and last name;
  • e-mail address;
  • organization where you work.

Every newsletter of the Acceleration Plan contains a link at the bottom of the newsletter with which you can unsubscribe.

Why do we ask for this information?

We need your data to process your registration (legal basis for processing: execution of the agreement).

How long do we keep this data?

After you have unsubscribed from the newsletter, you will no longer receive it immediately.

You can fill in forms for various purposes via our website. For example, you can register as a speaker for an event or fill out a feedback form. If you fill out a web form, the Acceleration Plan may request the following information from you:

  • First and last name
  • adress
  • e-mail address
  • phone number
  • area of ​​interest
  • organization where you work
  • organizational sector in which you work
  • function
  • any other information that you voluntarily enter

Why do we ask for this information?

We need your data to process your application or question (legal basis for processing: execution of agreement).

How long do we keep this data?

We store your data for up to 1 month after your question or registration has been fully processed, so that we can answer any follow-up questions.

To whom do we provide your data?

The website and activities of the Acceleration Plan are hosted by SURF, because SURF(net) is the secretary of the Acceleration Plan. SURF personnel and its housing and management partners have access to relevant systems. We only provide the information you provide to third parties if this is necessary to be able to provide the relevant service to you.

Furthermore, we only provide your data to other parties after your permission, unless it is legally required or permitted to provide your data. For example, the police can request data from us in the context of a fraud investigation. The Acceleration Plan is then legally obliged to provide this information.

What rights do you have with regard to your data?

We process your personal data, so ou can decide what happens to it. You can contact the Acceleration Plan for this, see the contact details at the bottom of this page. What exactly can you do with the data provided to us?

  • You can request us to view the data that we process about you.
  • You can request us to change, supplement or delete your data if it is incorrect or no longer relevant.
  • You can request us to restrict the processing of your data.
  • You can request a digital overview of the data that we process about you and you have the right to transfer this data to another service provider.
  • You can withdraw your consent to the processing of your personal data, for example by unsubscribing from a newsletter. Please note: the processing of your personal data before the withdrawal of your consent remains lawful.

If you think that the Acceleration Plan does not handle your personal data properly, you can submit a complaint to the Acceleration Plan. If you and the Acceleration Plan cannot reach an agreement, you can submit a complaint about the Acceleration Plan to the Authority for Personal Data.

Right to object

In addition to the rights mentioned above, you can also object to processing that takes place on the basis of the legitimate interest of the Acceleration Plan or a third party. This may be due to reasons related to your specific situation. You can object via the contact details that you will find at the bottom of this privacy statement.

Note: there are exceptions to this. Please be aware that the Acceleration Plan can no longer control materials (e.g. video) after they have been published online on channels other than its own website. In these cases, too, the Acceleration Plan cannot remove the visual material after publication. Naturally, the Acceleration Plan selects the visual material used for this purpose with the greatest possible care.
